We offer you the opportunity to summit Mulhacén in just one day.
This route is designed for those who don’t have much time and prefer not to spend the night at the Poqueira Refuge before tackling the summit (See the Mulhacén ascent in 2 days option).
Starting from Hoya del Portillo, located over 2,100 meters above sea level, we will ascend continuously without technical difficulties, taking us all the way to the summit, passing by Mulhacén II, also known as “false Mulhacén.”
If you prefer, we can take the ascent from Hoya de la Mora in the Pradollano area.
This ascent is undoubtedly the highlight of Sierra Nevada, as it crowns the highest peak of the mountain range and all of the Iberian Peninsula.
You’ll experience the beauty of the Alpujarran villages and reach one of the highest points in Spain. What more could you ask for?
From the summit of Mulhacén, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking 360º panoramic view, allowing you to see incredibly distant points, such as the Sierra de las Nieves, the Subbéticas, Sierra Mágina, La Sagra, and even the African Rif.
The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range located in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, in Andalusia. With an area of more than 86,000 hectares, it is the highest mountain range in the Iberian Peninsula, with peaks exceeding 3,000 meters in altitude, such as Pico Mulhacén, the highest in the Iberian Peninsula.
This mountain range is a true natural paradise, with biodiversity unique in Europe and a wide variety of ecosystems and microclimates.
In the Sierra Nevada, you can find everything from holm oak, gall oak, and cork oak forests to alpine meadows and glacial lakes.
Furthermore, the area’s fauna is highly varied, including species such as the Iberian lynx, golden eagle, ibex, and brown trout. The Sierra Nevada also has a rich history and culture, with traces of human presence dating back to the Bronze Age, as well as the Roman and Muslim periods.
The presence of ancient civilizations left a significant mark on the architecture and culture of the area, with numerous historic villages and monuments.
Climbing Mulhacén means enjoying a unique natural and cultural environment, where the beauty of the landscapes and the richness of the flora and fauna combine with the history and culture of one of the most emblematic areas of the Iberian Peninsula.
Day of the Activity
The meeting point will be the parking lot at the entrance to Capileira, from where the tour will depart for Hoya del Portillo. We will distribute vehicles to ensure that the number of cars available is the lowest possible.
